When I look back on 2025, I reflect on the significant growth and pursuit of improvement I have experienced. I think about the humbling clarity and understanding that have given me new perspectives. I think about the family adventures in nature, the highs, the lows, the in-betweens. The uncertainties and risks that have brought so much love and connection in my life this year. I reflect on the changes in the world and my ability to remain grounded and certain about what I can control versus what is beyond my control.
This year has been one of steady growth across every part of my life. I poured intention into my relationships, my health, my learning, my inner work, and our homeschooling. Over time, those small, almost invisible 2mm shifts began to add up.
Looking back now, I can see how those incremental changes have grown into something meaningful, tangible, and in some places, truly transformative.
These are the moments and practices that, gradually, changed the shape of my year.
1. Community Connection
The year began with a quiet leap of faith. I reached beyond our familiar circle and into the wider homeschooling community, reconnecting with friends I hadn’t spoken to in years and opening space for something new. With just over a week to prepare, my husband and I decided to enter a local community parade as the first homeschooling float in more than forty years. I reached out to families I had met along the way, and together we gathered, created, decorated, dressed to the theme, and brought it all to life. Standing there on that day, I felt a deep sense of pride—not only in what we had created together, but also in the opportunity to represent homeschooling at the heart of our local community.
This naturally led to our community growing. I began bringing together a group of local homeschooling parents and organising excursions for our children to experience together. I chose workshops that felt both enriching and grounded, each one tied to a place and guided by a facilitator or expert, with a hands-on element woven through. We gathered one to two times a month, sometimes with up to thirty children, forming a mixed-age group that learned, explored, and adventured side by side.
At the time, I followed the idea simply with the hope that others would feel called to join. Looking back, I can see that if I hadn’t taken that first step—through the homeschooling float, and then by committing to creating these shared experiences—we would have missed out on so much connection and growth. The opportunities that unfolded through these workshops have been a true blessing.

2. Choosing Health as a Foundation
This was an area of massive growth for me this year. I did a lot of gardening and enjoyed collecting all the goods. There is nothing greater than being able to go out into the garden to gather a full bowl of greens and herbs for your next meal. I have felt so nourished by what we have grown, the organic vegetables in our weekly box, lemon water first thing in the morning, followed by celery juice. These wholesome integrations into my life have improved my energy levels and overall health.
I also began weaving hot and cold exposure into my life. Weekly visits to the local infrared sauna, monthly cryotherapy date nights with Bill, and daily cold showers became part of my rhythm. These practices strengthened my focus, lifted my energy, and supported my immune system. And truly, on a hard day, nothing resets me like a cold shower.
Moving my body was the thing that pulled everything together. Hiking, dancing in the kitchen, gardening, walking up and down our steep block, singing with the kids, and daily sessions on the rebounder. When I move, I feel alive.
Consistency mattered more than intensity; these health habits and rituals for 2025 were anchors I could return to in any moment. They were for me, not a burden where I had to perform perfectly. Just showing up and nurturing myself was enough.

3. Learning, Living, and Wandering Together
Some of the richest learning this year didn’t come from books or plans, but from being fully immersed in life together. Lifeschooling, for us, became one big, bold adventure, where everyday moments held growth potential. Learning wasn’t something we stepped away to do—it unfolded naturally as we moved through our days.
Throughout the year, we enjoyed a mix of shorter local and interstate trips. These adventures invited us into new landscapes and brought forward meaningful moments with friends and family. Each journey carried fresh inspiration, and we loved bringing those experiences home with us—exploring new ideas, revisiting places, stories, and allowing what we discovered along the way to shape our daily lives.
Closer to home, simple rhythms grounded us. Swimming in our local river, exploring nature, bike riding, and gathering monthly with other families in nature became steady anchors in our weeks. This way of lifeschooling flowed with life rather than against it, allowing us to learn alongside one another. Curiosity, connection, and presence gently guided our days, and in that space, learning felt alive and deeply shared.

4. Inner Growth and Integration
Beneath everything this year flowed a steady current of inner growth. Rather than skimming the surface, I chose specific areas of expansion and immersed myself in them fully, often spending weeks with the same teachings until they had time to settle and take root. I committed to restoring my health and vitality, realigning my values, building financial literacy, and cultivating a deeper sense of inner peace.
Monthly online meditations with Jeff Foster felt like a breath of fresh air, creating space for presence to flow and for new insights to gently integrate into daily life. Meditation with Jeff was never about escaping reality, but about meeting myself exactly where I was. Each session offered a sense of wholeness, a quiet permission to be with whatever was present, without needing to fix or change it.
Integration has become an art form for me this year. It has looked like taking what I learnt off the page and into my days—into how I care for my body, make decisions, manage money, show up in relationships, and respond to challenges. Rather than chasing the next insight, I have focused on living the wisdom I already hold, allowing it to shape my life in grounded, practical ways.

Looking back, what made the biggest impact this year wasn’t any single moment or achievement, but the way these small, intentional choices began to weave together. Community, health, learning, nature, family, and inner growth slowly found their place alongside one another, creating a life that feels more aligned and whole. This year reminded me that growth doesn’t have to be loud or hurried—it can be steady, integrated, and deeply nourishing. And for that, I feel incredibly grateful.
